Olin College of Engineering's students are taking on innovative tasks that have implications for how senior housing cares for residents. The Needham, MA-based school is working with nearby North Hill Senior Living, a life care community founded in 1984, to develop relationships between the older adults and the students so they can understand their needs. And with that understanding, the students are working on technology projects that one day could make life easier, or at least more entertaining, for the residents. The project, announced this month, is financed by the North Hill-Olin College Fund for Innovation in Aging. It could be a model of how senior communities can work with students to improve the lives of not just the immediate residents, but for seniors everywhere. And it's not expensive.
