Robert M. Fallon, Chief Executive Officer

Robert M. Fallon was appointed to the position of president and CEO at North Hill in October, 2017.  He has been an executive in the senior living community for more than 35 years. 

Prior to coming to North Hill, Mr. Fallon’s experience included his position as executive director of Newbury Court in Concord, MA and earlier of The Groves in Lincoln, MA.  He served as vice president of CCRC Operations for Masonic Homes of California where he established a 125 skilled bed nursing facility and initiated in-house rehabilitation services. He was instrumental in the design, and supervised the construction of a new facility for the organization, and established a secured memory support community for the Masonic Home campus. Mr. Fallon also introduced fine dining to the campus and maintained a deficiency-free rating in skilled nursing for the organization.

Mr. Fallon also served as the executive director and health care administrator of the Union City Campus of the Masonic Homes of California for six years and as the executive director and health care administrator of the Peninsula Regent CCRC in San Mateo, California for nine years. As an assistant nursing home administrator at HillHaven Corporation in San Francisco, California, Mr. Fallon designed an improved health care delivery system for the enhancement of patient care.

He has been an educator for deaf-blind students and is fluent in Advanced American Sign Language and proficient in Braille translation. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of California, Berkley and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan.


Darren Roy, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer

Darren RoyAs CFO, Darren Roy oversees the financial operations and accounting systems for North Hill. He works with the Trustee Finance and Resident Finance Committee. Mr. Roy began working with North Hill in January 2013 after serving as Chief Financial Officer at Dedham Country and Polo Club for 8 years and Director of Finance at Children’s Hospital for 3 years.

Mr. Roy holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and received his CPA certification in 1990. Mr. Roy is a member of the Hospitality Financial & Technology Professionals Association of New England.



David J. Maw, VP Operations / Executive Director

David MawDavid Maw was a member of the original leadership team that opened North Hill in 1984 and now serves as Executive Director, responsible for oversight for North Hill operations. Mr. Maw has served in various roles including Dining Services Director and Associate Director. Mr. Maw has provided consulting services to Life Care Services (LCS) and other retirement communities in the Boston area and was instrumental in successfully developing the first networking coalition for department directors of area retirement communities. 

Mr. Maw received a MS in Management from Bridgewater State College and a BS in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s College (ME). He served as adjunct faculty, teaching Business Management at Stonehill College and has presented at multiple conferences and seminars.

Anne Orens, Director, Business Development

Anne OrensAnne Orens has also held a variety of roles at North Hill. Ms. Orens works with the parent board, subsidiary boards and President to develop and facilitate governance-related issues as they relate to the strategic plan of the parent organization and subsidiary organizations.

Ms. Orens has significant experience in leadership, project management, and client development roles for companies in publishing, knowledge management and software development (including health care clients). She was Manager of Sales, Marketing & Circulation at Little, Brown and Company in Boston, and Business Development Director for several digital publishing firms. Ms. Orens has served as a Board Member for International Society for Scholarly Publishing and the Arlington Center for the Arts.

Ms. Orens received her BA in History from Bryn Mawr College and her Masters in History from the University of Chicago. She also has a Project Management Certification from the PMI Institute. Ms. Orens has been at North Hill since 2012.

Patricia A. Paulin, Director of Financial Planning & Administration

Patricia PaulinPatricia Paulin oversees and manages enterprise contracts, insurance administration, treasury and banking administration and serves as finance liaison to prospective and current residents and families. She works with the Trustee Finance, Resident Finance and Resident Employee Appreciation Committees. Ms. Paulin began working at North Hill over 25 years ago.

Ms. Paulin holds a MS in Accountancy from Bentley College and a BA in Special and Elementary Education from Boston College. She is a member of the Long Term Care Finance Association.

Eddie Brown, Director of Human Resources

Eddie Brown Eddie Brown joined North Hill in 2014 as the Director of Human Resources. Mr. Brown is an experienced human resources leader with expertise in developing, managing, implementing and integrating human resources programs to support business objectives. He prides himself as a strategic leader, one that builds strong partnerships within the organization. Mr. Brown is responsible for providing consultative leadership on business challenges and leading the human resource function, to drive human resources best practices for the Community and deliver programs in support of North Hill's PurposeFull Living philosophy.  

Mr. Brown holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences from Claflin University and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Golden Gate University. Mr. Brown is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), American Society for Healthcare Human Resources Administration (ASHHRA), Human Resources Management & Executive Network, and HR Executive (HR Linked).

Harold Goodale, Jr., Director of Facilities

Harry GoodaleHarold Goodale was one of the first team members hired at North Hill twenty-six years ago and has managed numerous capital projects throughout his career. As Director of Plant Facilities, he is responsible for maintenance, improvements and operations of 560,000 (and increasing) square feet of physical plant located on 59 acres at North Hill. He works with the Trustee Buildings and Grounds and Resident House Committees. During his career at North Hill, Harry received the Jesse M. Putney Award for his dedication and extraordinary efforts as an outstanding employee at North Hill.

Mr. Goodale received an Associate’s degree from Massachusetts Bay Community College and attended Wentworth College where he holds Massachusetts licenses for Electrical, HVAC and Construction Supervisor. He is also a Certified Pool Operator. Harry advanced his studies at the Peterson and Carrier Schools where he received specialized training for gas controls, boilers and HVAC systems.


We are a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Trustees from the surrounding local communities. Throughout our history, North Hill’s leadership has demonstrated exemplary financial stewardship, resulting in a strong financial position for the community and its stakeholders.

The Resident Association interacts with the Board of Trustees and management of North Hill to formally communicate the concerns and interests of the Resident body. All Residents are members of the North Hill Residents’ Association. The Resident Council is the governing body of the Association and is composed of Officers and 15 Councilors. Council meetings are held monthly and followed by a luncheon with a Trustee from the governing Board.

Currently, there are 14 active committees that report to the Resident Council.

Mr. Owens is President of Brown, Thompson & Company LLC, a consulting firm that provides financial and administrative services to emerging technology companies. Trustee since 2011.

William F. Meagher, Needham, MA – Vice Chair
Mr. Meagher is a retired former Managing Partner at Arthur Andersen LLP. Trustee since 2004.

John M. Tucker, Weston, MA
Mr. Tucker is a retired controller for Cambridge Health Alliance, a leading provider of healthcare for the uninsured. Trustee since 2007. Former Chair of North Hill Communities, Inc. and North Hill Needham, Inc.

Barbara P. Madden, Ed.D, Watertown, MA 
Ms. Madden is a retired nursing professor, a practicing nurse at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and a forensic nursing consultant. Trustee since 2005.

Jennifer A. Pline, Wellesley Hills, MA
Ms. Pline is a Managing Director and the Chief Trust & Gifts Officer at Harvard Management Company, Inc. Trustee since 2006.

Ted Owens, Needham, MA - Chair

Christoph Hoffmann, Needham, MA – Vice Chair
Mr. Hoffmann is a retired executive of Raytheon Company. He currently serves on the board of Medical Web Technologies, LLC. Trustee since 2012.

Katherine Babson, Jr. Wellesley, MA
Ms. Babson is a lifelong resident of Wellesley where she has been very active in town government. She served for 3 terms on the Board of Selectmen and for several years as Moderator of the Town. She has been a Town Meeting Member for over 40 years. Gig recently retired from the law firm of Nixon Peabody in Boston where she practiced trusts and estates law. She also was a trustee at Babson College for many years. Trustee since 2015.

David Dinwoodey, Wellesley, MA
Mr. Dinwoodey is an attorney who provides legal representation to non-profit organizations and privately-held businesses. Trustee since 2012.

Penny Greenberg, Westwood, MA
Ms. Greenberg is currently a consultant with CRICO Harvard Risk Management Strategies, a medical malpractice firm. Previously, Penny was the Executive Vice President of Operations and Chief Nursing Officer at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham, with deep expertise in Healthcare Quality Improvement, standards of care, and teamwork behaviors. She is an experienced educator and has presented widely to audiences on a broad range of patient safety topics. Trustee since 2013.

Maurice P. Handel, Needham, MA
Mr. Handel is a principal of Needham Consulting. He has more than thirty years of administrative and planning experience, with experience in health care services, regulatory matters and strategic planning. North Hill Board member since 2014.

Carl H. Novotny, Wellesley, MA
Mr. Novotny is a venture capitalist and a Managing Director of Venture Capital Fund of New England (VCFNE). Trustee since 2010.

E. Prather Palmer, MD, Weston, MA
Dr. Palmer retired after 30 years in 2006 as staff neurologist from the Lahey Clinic Medical Center. His special interest and areas of research included Alzheimer’s Disease and other neurological behavioral problems as well as Parkinson’s Disease. He has lived in Wellesley and Weston since 1973. Trustee since 2013.

David B. Perini, Dover, MA
Mr. Perini is the former President and CEO of Perini Corporation and former Commissioner of the Division of Capital Asset Management for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Trustee since 2008.

Elizabeth P. Powell, Wellesley, MA - Babson Trustee
Ms. Powell is a retired entrepreneur and has represented Babson College on the North Hill Board since 2003.

Michael Price, Wellesley, MA
Mr. Price owns Speedpro Imaging, a digital printing company, and is an experienced business owner and franchise developer. He is a past President of the Rotary Club of Wellesley, and a member of the Brimmer and May School Board of Trustees. North Hill Board member since 2013.

Edwin A. Reilly, Natick, MA
Mr. Reilly is a retired health care executive having served as a Chairman, Director, and CEO of several health care companies, with deep experience in Human Resources. Trustee since 2013.

John Schwarz, Boston, MA
Mr. Schwarz is retired from Related Beal, a Boston real estate development company, but continues to serve as a financial consultant to the Company where he was previously the Chief Financial Officer. Trustee since 2012.

Gail M. Walcott, Newton Lower Falls, MA
Ms. Walcott is CEO and Principal of Walcott Associates, a consulting group that builds partnerships between health care payers, hospitals and physicians. Trustee since 2009.

Maureen Walsh, West Roxbury, MA
Ms. Walsh is a certified Adult and Geriatric Nurse Practitioner as well as a Certified Diabetes Educator. She has over 20 years experience in direct patient care. She is a clinical preceptor for the Boston College Graduate Nurse Practitioner Program. Trustee since 2013.

Sarah Wilcox, Newton, MA
Ms. Wilcox is the Senior Parish Administrator at Trinity Church in Boston. Previously she was a commercial banker specializing in lending to non-profits for over 20 years. She also serves on several non-profit boards. She has been a trustee since 2012.

Dr. Kott is a retired physician and former Chairman of the Department of Neurology at the Lahey Clinic. Trustee since 2008.

John C. Childs, Wellesley, MA
Mr. Childs is a retired Senior Vice President for an investment counsel and family office firm. He currently has financial positions on the boards of two non-profit organizations. Former Chair and Trustee from 2000 to 2014. North Hill Advisor since 2014.

David Hansen, Wellesley Hills, MA
Mr. Hansen is a senior executive with a focus on mergers and acquisitions and over 35 years experience in the business management of entrepreneurial as well as complex organizations. His entrepreneurial portfolio includes the co-founding of Falcon Capital Partners and the founding of DNH Partners LLC. He has served in a senior position with Mariner Health Group, Inc. and as a Partner for Coopers & Lybrand LLP. Mr. Hansen is currently the Managing Partner of DNH Partners LLC and a member of the Board of Directors of Deerwalk, Inc., a health analytics company. Mr. Hansen graduated with a BBA from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and an MBA from Cornell University.

Susan Mellace, Marlborough, MA
Ms. Mellace, a former corporate treasurer of Perini Corporation, has 30 years of financial management experience in the construction industry. She currently teaches accounting and finance at a local community college. Ms. Mellace is a CPA and a member of Financial Executives International. Advisor since 2015.

Theodore F. Parker, Wellesley, MA - Former Chair
Mr. Parker is a Director and Trustee of community organizations including local banking, charitable foundations, real estate related services and civic groups. Former Chairman and Trustee from 2001 to 2014. North Hill Advisor since 2014.

George M. Peterman, Stowe, MA
Mr. Peterman is a human resources executive experienced in implementing organizational strategies and programs to support business operations in rapidly changing environments. Over the course of his 40 year career George served in both corporate and consulting roles in multiple high technology industry sectors including computer equipment, software development, biotechnology and high threat security systems. Since retiring from his position of Senior Vice President of Human Resources at American Science and Engineering in 2013 George has turned his focus to promoting clean energy and sustainability and is engaged in implementing community projects in those areas. He also lectures on Change Management and serves on a number of non-profit advisory boards. George earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics from Princeton University.

Ronald W. Ruth, Needham, MA
Mr. Ruth is the Managing Partner of the Boston law firm, Sherin and Lodgen, LLP. He has more than thirty years of legal experience focused in particular on real estate development, land use and environmental issues. North Hill Advisor since 2015.

Tina Vasconcelles, Wellesley, MA
Ms. Vasconcelles received an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. She was a Portfolio Manager and Equity Analyst with Oechsle International Advisors for over 15 years and has recently been an active volunteer with leadership roles in many Wellesley organizations.
