The Art Gallery at North Hill
George Nick at The Art Gallery at North Hill
APRIL 7 - JUNE 30, 2017
George Nick is a realist painter of Boston’s landscapes and urban scenes. Though his guiding themes are communities and human interactions, he rarely includes human figures in his work. His subjects frequently include historic, though commonplace, architecture that is often times several centuries old.
Nick drives around Boston in an old green van that he has converted into a studio on wheels to find inspiration for his artwork. He works directly on the street to create his next piece once he finds a suitable subject. He is adamant about two rules in hisown painting:
(1) paint only from observation and never from reproductions and (2) finish a work in one sitting in the pursuit of immediacy — and thus accuracy — of an experience. Twenty-three of Nick’s paintings will be on display at The Art Gallery at North Hill from April 7th to June 30th.
