Stand Fisher & Jenny Wilder
After a first date dancing together to African music 30 years ago, Jenny Wilder and Stan Fisher found kismet. He was a professor at Boston University School of Law and she was the editor of the Law School Alumni Magazine, but it was their shared spirit of adventure that lit the spark. Stan had already spent time teaching law in Ethiopia, Jenny had been on an Earthwatch trip to Honduras, and would later travel extensively to developing countries as part of her work for Oxfam and Pathfinder International.
The two have been sharing adventures ever since, not just through travel, but by keeping their minds and hearts open to new experiences. They lived in Eritrea when Stan went back to Africa to teach again and have revisited that continent along with Europe and South and Central America in the past three decades.
Now they’ve made retirement an adventure with avid intellectual pursuit in the form of classes, workshops, committees, and a profound commitment to social concerns. Stan was a founder of the New England Innocence Project before retirement and continues to speak out on the topic of wrongful convictions. Jenny serves on several committees at North Hill, enriching the lives of other residents as well as her own.
Stan and Jenny imbue North Hill with grace and spirit. They embrace life with joy and vigor, dispersing wisdom, compassion and friendship wherever they go.
