PAST EVENT Road to the White House 2020: the Process, Candidates and Strategies

On the even of the Iowa Caucuses and the New Hampshire primary, join in a conversation about the campaigns for the Democratic nomination and for President.  Professor Paul Watanabe will lead our examination of key aspects of the nomination and general election processes, the presidential contenders and the strategies.  All, regardless of political affiliation, who are interested in the outcome of this momentous election are welcome.

Professor Watanabe is Professor of Political Science and Director of the Institute for Asian American Studies at UMass Boston.  His principal areas of research and teaching are American political behavior, American foreign policy, and ethnic group politics.  Paul served on President Obama’s Advistory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and was the first chair of the US census Bureau’s National Advisory Committee on Racial, Etehnic and Other Populations.  He reglularly contributes analysis and commentary to national and local news media.  He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
