Sharing art’s wealth

Needham, MA…North Hill awarded its third annual Helen Meyrowitz scholarship to Needham High School student Mika Zelikov.

The award was created in 2020 to honor the contributions of North Hill resident Helen Meyrowitz an accomplished artist herself, and founder of the North Hill Art Gallery and the North Hill permanent collection.

“Mika’s work on view explores landscape imagery, both observed and imagined, using traditional reduction link cut printmaking, acrylic and gouache paints in addition to digital painting. She deftly explores and combines both traditional and digital media with impressive outcomes,” said Cheryl Clinton, North Hill’s artist in residents.

Ms. Meyrowitz presented the check to Ms. Zelkov at a reception celebrating her work at North Hill last week.

“This is a marvelous way to thank Helen for all she’s done to bring fine art to North Hill,” said North Hill’s program director Jessie Rodrique.  Her remark was followed by an exuberant round of applause.

Zelkov will be attending Connecticut College to study psychology and art.
