Maurice (Moe) Handel
Maurice (Moe) Handel has been a Board member of North Hill since 2015. His involvement with North Hill began in 2014 as a member of the Board of Advisors.
Mr. Handel established an independent consulting practice specializing in medical staff/hospital issue resolution, and community relations and planning in June of 1994.
Mr. Handel has extensive experience in developing determination of need applications, obtaining local zoning approvals, working with neighbors, physician relations, and strategic planning. He also has extensive experience working in academic and community hospitals.
Mr. Handel is active in various professional organizations and served as the Chairman of the Board of the Southwest Suburban Emergency Services Consortium of Massachusetts, and as Treasurer of the Board of the Metropolitan Boston Society of Health Care Planning and Marketing (now the New England Society for Healthcare Strategy). He is currently an elected member of the Town of Needham Board of Selectmen and former member of the Town’s Planning Board, Town Meeting, and serves on various appointed town committees. Mr. Handel is past President of the Needham Historical Society, and was President of the Needham Exchange Club during 2003-2004.
Mr. Handel is a former Diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives and was a Charter Member of the American Institute of Certified Planners.
Mr. Handel received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener University) his Master of Regional Planning from Cornell University, and his Master of Public Health with an emphasis in administration and planning from the University of Pittsburgh. As an Administrative Resident at Montefiore Hospital, he developed a graphic hospital directory system.
